For Plesiosaurs and Ichthyosaurs the Jurassic was a golden age.  Plesiosaurs are the really big reptiles of the Mesozoic Sea.  There were two major groups.  The long necked small headed plesiosaurs ate smaller sea creatures.  The pliosaurs has large heads short necks and ate what ever they wanted.

The Early Jurassic

Eurhinosaurus was 6.f feet and lived in Europe. The upper jaw was twice as long as the lower, making it look like a sawfish. Teeth stuck out sideways along the jaw but the use is unknown

Bullyland Ichthyosaurus

 

Ichthyosaurus (fish lizard ) was about 6.5 feet long.  It  lasted from the Early Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous.

Plesiosaurus (Near Lizard) was 7 - 8 feet long and characterized the Mesozoic period. It had an almost world-wide distribution.  The term plesiosaur is sometimes applied more generally to all members of the family including the short necked big headed pliosasurs

Early Jurassic Seas are populated by the dolphin like Ichthyosaurus and the swan necked Plesiosaurus.

Invicta Ichthyosaurus and Plesiosaurus

Invicta Ichthyosaurus and Plesiosaurus swim above.  This figure is most likely intended to be Elasmosaurus as the term plesiosaurus is often used as a generic term for all the family.

Plesiosaurus fed on belemnites, fish and other prey.
